About the Department

Welcome to the Department of Pedodontics and Preventive Dentistry. “Pedodontics or pediatric dentistry is an age defined specialty that provides primary and comprehensive, preventive and therapeutic oral health care for infants and children through adolescence, including those with special health care needs”.

The Department currently offers graduate training leading to Bachelor of Dental Surgery and Post graduate training program leading to Masters in Dentistry (M.D.S.) awarded by the Pt. B.D. Sharma University of Health sciences, Rohtak. The curriculum is structured according to the Dental Council of India and Pt. B.D. Sharma University of Health sciences accreditation’s requirements and the program is fully accredited by these statutory bodies. The primary goal of the training program in pediatric dentistry is to prepare dentists to become specialists who are proficient in providing both primary and comprehensive preventive and therapeutic oral health care to infants and children through adolescence, including children with special health care needs. In addition, the curriculum is designed to prepare students wishing to pursue a career in research or teaching in pediatric dentistry.

Advances in materials and evidence based skills are regularly incorporated in the training program thereby imparting an up to date knowledge to the students in the department. The Department is actively involved in various ongoing research works and contributes actively to the scientific knowledge on the subject at various print, publishing and conference platforms.
